The Polynesian Cultural Center is worth a visit. They just celebrated their 45th anniversary a couple of days ago.

Hi Margaret,

You asked about getting in touch with the Redstone Living Historians. Well, since I'm a member, you already have! Where and when is the Lewis and Clark festival? I know we already have two events in September and had to turn down another because none of our members was available that weekend. We're a volunteer organization involving a number of high school students as well as adult members. The group can provide portrayals of an 18th Century ranging company and trading company, with both musket/rifle demonstrations and small artillery demos, depending on the site. We also provide a glimpse at civilian life including children's games, cooking and food preparation including butter churning, herbal medicine, candle dipping and spinning, depending on which members are available for the event and what the weather is like.

We don't charge for our services, but do need firewood, water and access to restrooms or portajohns.

Today I was digging for some info on ‘Finback Whale’ and came across the following section:

Our four-hour trip was extended to at least six hours when two of the finback whales refused to leave the side of the boat….With prime spots along the rail in the bow of the tour boat, we were able to get some nice photos when the humpback and finback whales came along side the vessel….

source: Whales, mosquitoes and roe, Spinittravel’s Weblog
Not exactly what I was looking for, nevertheless still a interesting read.

I am finally getting caught up on my e-mail messages and love your story. I have a similar hobby of buying ornaments on every vacation and other special events. And now my years of buying have totaled enough ornaments to decorate a few trees. I am now in process of giving them to family with a written note telling them about the happy memories I have with each one of them. That should take me a year or two to finish that project.

Memories are wonderful and reminds me of a dear old neighbhor Well she seemed old when I was just 22. Living next to her I learned one message in particular. Martha did not have children and became a second grandmother to mine. She often repeated to me "Build a happy memory bank--- because when you grow old--- that is all you have to live for".

Memories are great and dwelling on the happy ones is the 'best'.
